Training at SETG Bangholme

Training

Scheduled training is conducted weekly on Monday nights. Generally, Firefighter Training is two hours in duration and is organised around the following format:
• Firefighting Drills
• Firefighter Skills Maintenance, Lectures and Drills
• District Instructors and Assessors
• Traditional Media – DVD/PowerPoint Presentations

From early December leading into the Summer Fire Season until February, the majority of our focus is on pre summer drills and skills maintenance and reinforced training that has already occurred. During the lead up to winter the majority of our focus is on structural firefighting with Breathing Apparatus, Size-up, Fire suppression, Ventilation and Salvage skills being reinforced. For specialised training such as 4 wheel drive, chainsaw and fire line/crew leadership courses members are often sent outside the Brigade where they participate in training co-ordinated by The Group or District Headquarters.

The Brigade also has access to the South East Training Ground, located at Bangholme which provides practical fire fighting and rescue experiences.
