Skye is located in the outer South Eastern suburbs of Metropolitan Melbourne on the lip of the ‘Green’ wedge. ​The Skye Fire Station is located at 398 Ballarto Road, Skye Victoria. To the west of the station is a low urban population of approximately 7,000 and nearby Carrum Downs with an approximate population of 18,000. To the east is rural properties, sporting fields, quarries and farm land. Skye's response area also includes part of The Pines Flora and Fauna reserve, Carrum Downs Plaza Shopping Center, the old Skye Sands area on Harold Road, as well as the section of Dandenong - Hastings road from Thompsons Road to Cranbourne - Frankston Road.



Skye is part of District 8, which makes up the South East Region of the CFA. The Region incorporates a diverse range of risks including complex industrial areas, residential, rural, urban rural interface, holiday resorts, large commercial and retail centers and transport risks. The Region includes a major growth corridor in the outer metropolitan area with the fastest growing population in Melbourne.
